Arthur Cole was appointed Head Gardener at Colesbourne in June 2016. Arthur came to Colesbourne from Scotland where he has been involved in horticulture professionally since the age of 19. He studied at the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh and went on to develop his skills through projects including horticultural consultancy, permaculture set-up, garden design and as Head Gardener on a private estate on the west coast of Scotland.
"I am thrilled to have been appointed Head Gardener of such a beautiful and unique garden. Sir Henry and Lady Elwes' passion and tireless hard work in making their family home a celebration of horticulture and arboriculture is reflected not only by the spectacular snowdrop collection and wonderful arboretum but by the garden and parkland as a whole. The cornerstone to any successful garden is a high standard of horticultural practice, which my predecessors excelled at, and which I shall continue. Having such extraordinary plants and features to work with here at Colesbourne is a joy and privilege."
